He is recognized as a leading lawyer in Canada by Chambers and Partners (Corporate/Commercial), the Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory (Mergers and Acquisitions), and the Best Lawyers in Canada (Mergers and Acquisitions).  He was also named a Lexpert Rising Star in 2023, distinguishing him as one of Canada’s leading lawyers under 40, recognized for leading a transaction that was a finalist for ACG BC’s Deal of the Year award in 2023, and featured in Lexpert’s Special Edition: Finance and M&A Guide as a Lawyer to Watch in 2024.

Amaan has a breadth of experience advising on share and asset acquisitions and dispositions and other complex business transactions involving Canadian, U.S. and international stakeholders. Amaan has advised and led large legal teams on transactions of all sizes, from mid-market to multibillion dollar, involving more than 20 countries and a variety of industries, including technology, infrastructure, food and beverage, forestry, manufacturing, insurance, consumer goods, mining, energy, utilities, real estate, hospitality, and services. He has built a strong reputation for his work on cross-border transactions and has complementary experience securing competition and foreign investment approvals.

Amaan represents a broad range of clients from entrepreneurs to private equity firms, multi-national corporations and institutional investors. He regularly works with institutional clients in the public sector, particularly pension plans and other tax-exempt entities, with respect to their structuring activities and their infrastructure, real estate and private equity investments. Beyond his transactional practice, Amaan drafts, negotiates and advises on structuring and corporate governance matters and ongoing business operations.

Clients have repeatedly expressed their appreciation for Amaan’s ability to drive transactions strategically and effectively, and for his lateral, solutions-focused thinking. His big-picture view, practical advice, and methodical approach prioritizes success for clients.

Amaan is a guest instructor for the Law Society of British Columbia’s Professional Legal Training Course on mergers and acquisitions and a director of the Hoop-Law Society (a non-profit organization that raises money for various local childrens’ charities). He has also volunteered his time as a mentor for TiE Young Entrepreneurs (TYE), an instructor for Junior Achievement, and a Cabinet Member for the 'A Night of Miracles' gala supporting BC Children's Hospital.

Prior to joining Lawson Lundell, Amaan practiced in the Toronto office of a leading Canadian law firm. He graduated from the Faculty of Law at Queen's University where, in addition to other achievements, he was the Dean’s Bronze Scholar, received the Professional Excellence Award, and co-founded the Queen’s Business Law Clinic.
