
Shannon is an innovative and high-performing litigation and regulatory lawyer with over 20 years of experience advising clients on complex commercial and regulatory matters. Her practice focuses on resolving difficult business disputes in the commercial, energy and power sectors.
She has extensive experience managing large, complex litigation, regulatory and administrative matters in the electricity and oil and gas industries, where organization, accountability, effective communication and overall vision is imperative for success.
Shannon has appeared before all levels of court in Alberta and has acted in proceedings before the Alberta Utilities Commission, the Land and Property Rights Tribunal (formerly the Surface Rights Board), and the Manitoba Public Utilities Board. She also advises on real-time risk management and best practices to help clients mitigate potential disputes before they arise.
Shannon has led numerous commercial arbitrations and mediations and is known for her ability to focus on the analysis of critical factors and variables to develop strategies to achieve those goals, seeing the ‘big picture’ and making informed decision to gain a competitive advantage. She has years of experience coordinating large multidisciplinary teams, subject-matter experts, and legal professionals to deliver results in challenging and dynamic environments.
She served as practice group leader for the Calgary litigation and regulatory group for three years. She is currently a member of the firm’s Executive Committee in her second term. In that role, she engages with the executive committee members to lead a team of more than 200 lawyers and 300 staff across four offices in Western Canada, fostering a culture of collaboration, mutual respect, and superb client service.
