Lawson Lundell LLP is pleased to welcome Ryan Berger, a distinguished employment and privacy lawyer, as a partner based in Lawson Lundell’s Vancouver office.
Ryan has practiced commercial and employment litigation for over 19 years, with a growing emphasis on data, privacy and business confidentiality issues. He has significant experience advising employers in a wide range of employment and dismissal cases, as well as harassment and human rights complaints. He assists businesses with enforcement of restrictive covenants and protection of confidential information.
“We are delighted to welcome Ryan to the firm,” said Clifford Proudfoot, Managing Partner at Lawson Lundell. “Ryan is an experienced employment lawyer and has developed a successful and specialized practice in the privacy and cybersecurity areas. We expect him to consolidate and build out these important practice areas at our firm.”
A significant portion of Ryan’s work involves advising on data and privacy compliance, risk management strategies, breach response, transactions and litigation. He uses his experience in data breach response to advise on litigation and risk reduction strategies.
“I am thrilled to join the great team at Lawson Lundell” said Ryan. “I look forward to joining the eminent labour and employment group and continuing to develop the data protection, privacy and cyber security practice. It is exciting to have the opportunity to work with a leading firm in Western and Northern Canada.”
Prior to joining Lawson Lundell, Ryan was a partner at a global law firm in Vancouver where he was the Head of Data Protection, Privacy and Cybersecurity for Canada.
