Battered Women's Support Services Workshop
Lawson Lundell Lawyers Caitlin Ohama-Darcus and Nicole Welsh are guest speaking at the Battered Women's Support Services (BWSS) workshop titled "Courting Change – An Introduction to Feminist Strategic Litigation."
This transformative hybrid workshop explores Feminist Strategic Litigation, a powerful systems-change strategy that unites gender-based violence (GBV) advocates and legal professionals to improve outcomes for survivors.
Caitlin Ohama-Darcus and Nicole Welsh are counsel for BWSS as an intervener before the Supreme Court of Canada in Ahluwalia v. Ahluwalia, and will discuss its implications for advancing justice for survivors. This landmark appeal addresses financial compensation for survivors of intimate partner violence (IPV) and whether courts should recognize a new tort of family violence.
