Akum Sidhu is a summer student in the Vancouver office of Lawson Lundell LLP. She is interested in exploring all practice areas and has a specific interest in solicitor work.
Before attending law school, Akum completed her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science (with distinction) at Simon Fraser University. Her undergraduate honours thesis focused on the impact of acculturation and gender role attitudes on attitudes toward violence against women in South Asian communities. While at SFU, she held several student leadership positions, including on the board of directors of the Simon Fraser Student Society.
Akum also has experience as a research associate. During her first year of law school, she volunteered with Pro Bono Students Canada and is an executive member of the South Asian Law Students Association and Pan-Asian Law Students Society.
Akum will return to the University of Victoria in the fall to continue working on her J.D.
