The Federation of Law Societies of Canada recently announced that Sheila MacPherson, a partner in our Yellowknife office, has been elected President for 2017-2018.

The Federation is the national coordinating body of Canada's 14 law societies and they speak out on issues critical to safeguarding the public’s right to an independent legal profession, the protection of solicitor-client privilege and other issues relating to the administration of justice and the rule of law.

In 2011, Sheila joined the Federation Council as the nominee of the Law Society of the Northwest Territories and has previously served as president of the Law Society in 1997 and 2011.
