Lawson Lundell lawyer John Olynyk was quoted in The Financial Post in an article titled, 'First Nations gear up to fight Ottawa for shutting them out in coal-mine rulings.' The article examines legal developments in the duty to consult Indigenous communities regarding resource extraction projects and how impact benefit agreements may have to take into account broader economic interests than previously expected. 

“It makes sense to me, but it’s just been an interesting development, especially given these are very typically confidential and closely held,” Olynyk said. “You can see there’s a policy element behind the decisions.”
