Rita Andreone, QC Receives Prestigious Canadian Bar Association (B.C.) Mentoring Award
We are pleased to announce that Rita C. Andreone, QC is the recipient of this year’s Debra Van Ginkle, QC Mentoring Award, a recognition bestowed by the CBABC Women Lawyers Forum (WLF).
Rita is a committed, inspirational and wise mentor. She has a keen understanding of women’s issues and is a role model for women in many different contexts. The Debra Van Ginkel, QC Mentoring Award recognizes mentors like Rita and the qualities and commitment she has demonstrated throughout her life and her legal career.
“Mentorship is near and dear to my heart,” says Rita. “I feel honoured and privileged to be recognized for doing something I love. I believe that professionals like us should continue to support other women in our industry and provide the necessary guidance and advice they need to succeed.”

Rita Andreone, QC is a Partner at Lawson Lundell and head of the firm’s Corporate Governance Group and the immediate past Chair of the firm’s Executive Committee. She practices in the area of corporate commercial law, with a particular focus on board advisory and corporate governance work. In this capacity, she advises public, public sector (Crown) and private corporations, large and small. She has substantial experience as both a director and corporate secretary of corporations and societies.
Throughout her career, she has made significant contributions to various board organizations and was included in the Canadian Board Diversity Centre’s Diversity 50 list as "Board-Ready" in 2014. She obtained her ICD.D designation from the Institute of Corporate Directors/Rotman School of Management.
Rita was appointed Queen's Counsel in 2011 and is recognized by Best Lawyers in Canada for Corporate Governance Practice and Private Funds Law. She was a finalist for the 2016 YWCA Women of Distinction Awards for the Business & Professions category. She received a 2011 Lexpert Zenith Award Corporate and Law Firm Social Responsibility for her outstanding work and long-standing dedication in the area of Corporate Governance.
