Biography
Nika has a general commercial practice, providing legal advice to clients of all sizes in a variety of industries, including technology, utilities, transportation, manufacturing, construction and consumer products.
Her experience includes the preparation, review and negotiation of a variety of commercial agreements, including:
- Technology licensing agreements, including software licenses
- Software-as-a-service agreements
- Development agreements
- Reseller agreements
- Data protection agreements
- Supply agreements
- Professional service agreements
- Manufacturing and additive manufacturing agreements
Nika is a member of the firm’s Corporate Commercial Group, Technology Group, Intellectual Property Group, and Privacy & Data Management Group. She also has significant experience in Marketing and Advertising Law, including advising on contests and promotions. Nika was a contributing author of the textbook Advertising and Marketing Law in Canada, 4th Edition, a leading legal reference for advertising and marketing professionals.
In addition to several years of law firm experience, Nika has almost a decade of experience as in-house counsel, both within a large legal department in a highly regulated industry as well as within a high growth SaaS company, where she was the first in-house counsel and General Counsel, ultimately taking the company through acquisition by a global leader in the industry. Because of this experience, Nika understands first-hand the needs and challenges of high growth start-ups and scale-ups, as well as in-house legal departments.
