I am very excited to be joining the Environmental & Regulatory group at Lawson Lundell. I look forward to growing my practice among a fantastic group of lawyers doing exceptional, market-leading work.

Emma Russell is an associate in the Vancouver office of Lawson Lundell and a member of the firm’s Environmental & Regulatory group. She advises and represents clients on a wide range of issues, with experience in environmental compliance and permitting, contaminated sites, the regulation of public utilities, regulatory prosecutions, economic development on reserve lands, jurisdictional disputes, and the duty to consult. Emma has appeared at all levels of court in British Columbia and at various administrative bodies, including the BC Utilities Commission and Environmental Appeal Board.

In addition to her litigation practice, Emma is the Co-Chair of the CBABC’s Environmental Law section and sits on the board of the Federation of Canadian Artists. She is also an active volunteer with Access Pro Bono.

Emma obtained her law degree from the University of British Columbia in 2020. During law school, she served as a clinician with the UBC Innocence Project, competed in various moots, and worked as a research assistant examining potential legal solutions to online hate speech. After law school, Emma clerked for three justices at the Court of Appeal for British Columbia and Yukon. Prior to joining the firm, Emma practiced at the Vancouver office of an international law firm.
