Thelma Zindoga is an associate in the Vancouver office of Lawson Lundell and a member of the firm’s Labour, Employment and Human Rights Group. Thelma advises employers across a wide range of employment, human rights, privacy and regulatory matters, including recruitment and hiring best practices, employment contract and independent contractor/consultant agreement creation, performance management, terminations and wrongful dismissal claims, workplace safety, and immigration. In addition, Thelma also regularly advises on the employment and labour aspects of mergers and acquisitions, including drafting and negotiating agreements such as purchase agreements, employment contracts, retention agreements, and non-compete agreements, as well as providing advice on integrating employees after the transaction is complete.

In addition to her legal work, Thelma is passionate about global affairs, politics, and social justice. She champions anti-racism and diversity and inclusion efforts in the workplace, community, and society at large.

Thelma is also an alumnus of the United Nations Association in Canada - International Development and Diplomacy Internship Programme (UNAC IDDIP). She was selected as Canada’s Junior Professional Consultant representative at the United Nations Office of Drugs and Crime (UNODC) in South Africa. Her responsibilities included conducting research on anti-money laundering programs and human and drug trafficking in the Southern African region.

  • Assisting with advising a retail company concerning its legal obligations to its employees in British Columbia concerning the closure of its Canadian operations.
