#1 - Workplaces: Where Transparency and Confidentiality Co-exist, but Non-disclosure is Not Allowed.

This panel explored developments in privacy and technology, confidentiality, pay transparency, and non-disclosure agreements.
#2 - Out of Sight, but Not Out of Mind: Practical tips for navigating injuries, absenteeism, and remote work arrangements.
Presented by: Michelle Jones, Dana Kiefer and Miny Atwal
This panel provided a refresher on the duties required by Workers’ Compensation legislation, how to navigate employee illnesses and absenteeism, and important considerations when implementing remote work arrangements.
#3 - Enforceable Exits: Strategies for successfully on-boarding and off-boarding employees
Presented by: Chris Wiebe, Katy Allen, Matt Stainsby and Lauren Dresselhuis
This panel provided an update on key issues in employment law such as the enforceability of termination provisions, the termination procedure, including when an employee is on leave, and the dangers of fixed-term contracts.
#4 - How to Navigate Rising Trade Union Activity and Organizing
Presented by: Rob Sider, Nicole Skuggedal and Lucy Williams
In this seminar, we: (i) explored the trends underlying rising unionization rates; (ii) provided practical tips on how to best protect your organization from unionization; and (iii) reviewed the legal framework for union organizing, emphasizing the need for advance preparation due to the fast-paced process. This session was designed for non-union employers as well as unionized employers with some operations that are currently non-union.
