Lawson Lundell lawyers Jennifer Nyland and Gillian Thiel will be speaking at the Environmental Managers Association (EMA) of BC’s Annual Legal Update on January 30, 2025 at the BCIT Downtown Campus in Vancouver. Lawson Lundell is proud to sponsor the event.

Their presentation will focus on recent amendments to Canada’s Impact Assessment Act (IAA) following the Supreme Court of Canada’s 2023 decision, updates to BC's Environmental Management Act, the Administrative Monetary Penalty regime under the Water Sustainability Act, and other significant legislative developments anticipated in 2025.

Gillian Thiel Gillian Thiel is an associate in the Vancouver office of Lawson Lundell where she practices environmental and natural resource law with a focus on project permitting and Indigenous engagement and consultation matters. Gillian obtained her JD from the University of British Columbia, where she earned an additional certificate in Environment and Natural Resources Law.
